Manor Walks Shopping Centre, located in Cramlington, Northumberland, embarked on a five-year D’Carbo-nation project in 2018, aimed at enhancing the environmental sustainability of the centre in partnership with ABM’s client, Workman LLP.

Challenge

Solution

The sustainability efforts included several significant upgrades and changes:
- LED Lighting: In 2020, all lighting was replaced with low-power LED fixtures to reduce electricity consumption.
- Electric Power: Transition from fossil-fuel powered equipment to electric power to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
- Recycling Enhancements: Implementation of a new recycling system that provided rebates on cardboard and segregated plastics, which also financially benefited the tenants.
